Kashmir Klub

  • Live music club near Baker Street dedicated to developing and promoting the best signed and unsigned bands.

  • The Kashmir Klub was a unique, non profit making, live music club housed in the basement of a converted pub called "The Tuscan" at No 6 Nottingham Place, central London, England. It was open from 1997 to 2003.

    The club was started in November 1997 by musician Tony Moore to provide a different approach to discovering, developing and promoting the best signed and unsigned artists available, and to create a "fertile, creative and spontaneous" atmosphere. The name was inspired by the Led Zeppelin track "Kashmir". Moore loved the track and also the band. He said "It seemed to me that Led Zeppelin covered nearly every genre of music in their time, from Rock to Acoustic. So I thought "The Kashmir Klub" would be perfect." wiki

Closure

The club finally closed on Saturday 17 May, 2003, when the building was repossessed for redevelopment. Tony Moore continues to run a similar live music venue at "The Bedford", a pub in Balham, south London. In 2004 other members of the Kashmir team opened 4 Sticks Live at The Cobden Members Club, a private club in West London.

ライブハウス

ライブハウスは、ロックやジャズなどのライブやその他イベントを行う比較的小型で立ち見中心のコンサートホール、又は可動式テーブル席を置く飲食店のこと。

比較的大型で着座式のコンサートホールでは、ステージが見易い様に観客席が固定されるフロアが階段状になっているのに対し、ライブハウスの場合、特に1階では段差がなし或いは数段しかないフロアとなっている。

近年主流のクラブの形態に倣い、DJ機器の常設店増加と共に、深夜から早朝にかけてのクラブ的イベントを開催するハコも増加傾向にある。逆にライブハウスを拠点としていたバンドがクラブでイベントを開催することも増加した。現在ではライブハウス（バンド）とクラブ（DJなど）との間の線引きは困難になりつつある。

ライブハウスは和製英語であり英語では大きさによりClub（クラブ）、Hall（ホール）、Ballroom（ボールルーム）等と言う。（『Live house』では「生き物のいる家」あるいは「動物園」と受け取られてしまう）。また生バンドの演奏の“ライブ”と言う言葉自体も和製英語であり（英語で Liveだけでは形容詞なので通じない。あえて言うならライブミュージックまたはライブバンドと言う）ライブを名詞と取り違え使用したことが始まりと思われる。日本で使われている“ライブ”にあたる言葉は英語では通常 Show（ショー）又はConcert（コンサート）と言う。 wiki
